Running for almost two decades, Bermondsey Street Festival describes itself as "a powerful demonstration of what can happen when a community refuses to let go of its cherished traditions." It also happens to be a really fun day out.
On Saturday 21 September 2024, Bermondsey Street, Leathermarket Gardens and Tanner Street Park are filled with an array of stalls, stages, street food, wellness activities and more. Here's a taster of what to expect:
- Food: with even more culinary/drink action going on than usual in the area, there's far too much to list here, but look out for stalls with mac n cheese from Anna Mae's, Moroccan eats from Harissa & Lemon, a Baccala oyster cart, and burgers from Pigling Street
- Drink: the chance to sup on locally-made bevvies including Southwark Brewing ales, Gosnells mead and These Days spirits.
- Glassblowing: London Glassblowing on Bermondsey Street open up their studio for the day so you can see pieces being crafted. There are also special discounts on some of their glassware
- Dogs: a dog show hosted by Holly & Lil
- Music: a stage in Tanner Street Park hosts local musicians and DJs all day, including six-piece instrumental band the Hoos Collective
- Family friendly: there are maypole celebrations in Leathermarket Gardens, plus all-day kids karaoke from Musical Mayhem
- Wellness: a series of 25-minute Pilates, stretch and meditation workshops from Movement Collective
