Moving to a new area is always a daunting prospect. At the forefront of my mind there's always one chief question. 'What if there aren't any good pubs?'

Fortunately The Brownswood is within short walking distance, and has everything I want from a local and more.
Large range of cask and tap beer? Check. Wholesome looking Sunday roasts? Check. Massive beer garden (with heaters for when it gets cold in winter)? Check. Real fire? Check. Guest rooms upstairs? Okay, so this isn't actually a necessity considering I live a short walk away, but still, nice to know they're here.

On top of all that, The Brownswood is brimming with character too — the old-school mirrors with advertising on the walls, and the brass taps the beer is dispensed from are both classy touches. This is a pub that feels like a pub should.

One final note, do not be surprised to see some folk covered in chalk and comparing battle scars on their hands in the pub. It's seconds away from one of London's biggest and best climbing centres.
