Ealing's blessed with some excellent pubs, and Haven Lane more than most. With Fullers' The Wheatsheaf practically next door, this is a one-road pub crawl.
Both pubs are genuine 'locals', but The Haven most fits the bill. It's arranged around an island bar, with a mix of cosy corners and high stools. Three traditional ales — on our visit Pride, Landlord and Tribute — are on cask, with the usual fizzy kegs.

Out back, a sizeable beer garden can fit a high volume of locals during warmer times, while there's a real fire inside for the winter. Throw in a preponderance of TVs for the sports fans, a Thai kitchen, a pool table and a selection of board games, and you have a pub that should appeal to anyone.

We hope the residents of numbers 35-39 Haven Lane are pub fans, because they're surrounded on three sides by the two pubs and the Haven's beer garden! That said, it closes at 9.30pm each night, one of the earliest 'last orders' in London.
