The one-off, two-hour show, promises songs from around 15 different musicals.

If you're anywhere in the vicinity of King's Cross on 9 August, you will be met by a volley of ABBA songs ricocheting around the arches of Coal Drops Yard.

An Evening of Songs From the Shows is a free showcase of musical numbers from the West End stage, as performed by cast members of various productions. In this joyous commotion of solos, duets and group numbers, the audience — who can sink into deckchairs or stay on their feet — will be treated to everything from Rodgers and Hammerstein to Lin-Manuel Miranda; from My Fair Lady to Wicked.

Hamilton star Daniel Boys is back to lead the singing at 2025's show.

During the one-off two-hour show — part of the King's Cross Summer Sounds series — songs from around 15 musicals will be played, all of them "firm classics". The format is similar to that of West End Live, an enormously popular performance of West End show numbers which takes place in Trafalgar Square.

Says Daniel Boys, who plays King George III in the touring version of Hamilton, and is one of the main performers at An Evening of Songs From the Shows, "We try to vary the set each year and depending on who the performers are dictates which songs we sing. This year we have performers from the likes of Standing at the Sky's Edge, Pretty Woman, Come From Away and Hamilton — so I expect you'll hear some songs from these hit shows along with some well-known favourites."

The ABBA medley is sure to get people on their feet.

"We've always included a Mamma Mia! medley in our set," Daniel Boys tells Londonist, "as not only is it fun for us, but the crowd go wild for it!

"It's amazing standing on the stage, looking out and seeing a completely packed Coal Drops Yard all singing and dancing."

An Evening of Songs from the Shows, Saturday 9 August 2025, 6.30pm-8.30pm, free. Turn up around 5.30pm to bag a seat.
