Conservationist, broadcaster and national treasure Sir David Attenborough will narrate a new immersive experience at the Natural History Museum.
Opening this June, Our Story with David Attenborough takes over the museum's Jerwood Gallery, projecting footage from the natural world onto the walls and floors, immersing you the full 360°. The experience lasts 50 minutes, telling the history of humankind, from over four billion years ago. Attenborough narrates the evolution of humans, and how we came to change the world around us, including our impact on whales in the ocean, and our relationship with one of our closest relatives, the gorillas. It sounds like the closest you'll ever get to being in one of Attenborough's legendary documentaries.
There's a personal spin too, as Attenborough reflects on his own near-century of experience, and the good and the bad he has witnessed throughout his career, while sharing his hopes for our planet and his belief that we can solve the problems it currently faces. Says Attenborough:
Humanity is the most influential species on Earth. We depend entirely on this magnificent planet, yet its future is in our hands. My hope is that visitors of all ages will experience our extraordinary journey at the Natural History Museum and come away feeling inspired, informed and most of all, empowered about their integral role in our world. This is our story and we can all play a significant role.
It's not the only new addition to the museum this year. New free gallery Fixing Our Broken Planet opened in early April, the museum's first new gallery in over a decade. It's located next door to this new immersive experience.
Our Story with David Attenborough opens at the Natural History Museum on 19 June 2025. Tickets on general sale from 22 May 2025, with adult prices starting at £20 (members get a 50% discount and priority access from 20 May).
