While the price of beer continues to shoot up into the stratosphere, if you know where to look, you can occasionally find a free pint with your name on it.
To wit, Young's pubs across the UK (of which London is a part) are giving away free pints of Young’s Original and Asahi Super Dry between Monday 15 September and Sunday 21 September 2025. You'll need to download the Young's On Tap app, and go to the 'My Treats' section to claim it. And if beer's not your cup of... beer, you can also get a free glass of sauvignon blanc, merlot or Coca-Cola.
The promotional giveaway celebrates 194 years of the brewery which, for many years, was stationed in Wandsworth, before shutting up shop here in 2006 and upping sticks to Bedford. (The very pleasant Sambrook's Brewery now operates on the old site.)
In an equine nod to its south London heritage, on Young's Day itself (Thursday 18 September), a pair of dray horses — fixed up to a traditional beer-carrying cart — will be outside the Alma pub in Wandsworth from 2pm-6pm. If you're in the area, it'll make a smashing place to claim your free brew.
