Free trips on the London Cable Car are up for grabs this November.

To mark Befriending Week, TfL is offering journeys on the east London attraction/dangly transport line, on Monday 2, Wednesday 4 and Friday 6 November 2026, with the entire fee waived.

The idea of the round trips — usually worth £13.50 — is to encourage Londoners "who may be feeling lonely" a chance to strike up conversation with fellow denizens, while drinking in views of the skyline and sipping a cuppa. The trips are bookable now.

"Transport for London plays a vital role in keeping Londoners connected to the places and people they love," says Danny Price, Director of Sponsored Services at TfL. "By bringing people together 90 metres above the Thames for Befriending Week, we hope to show how simple it can be to start a conversation and turn a daily journey into a meaningful connection."

Who knows; it could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship. Unless you hit on some fundamental political difference, in which case it might be a long trip across the water.

Free Befriending Week London Cable Car journeys (2, 4 and 6 November 2026) are available to book now.
