Looking to change career into something more creative? Or perhaps you want to turn your creative passion freelance?
Introducing City Lit's Centre for Advanced Practice, a programme of advanced art and design courses. Subject areas include ceramics, jewellery making, fine art, printmaking, basketry, graphic design, and children's book illustration, with many courses running for a year or longer.
The courses can be a foundation to prepare you for studying at Bachelors or Masters level — but if that's not for you, the depth of City Lit's programmes makes them a viable alternative to the conventional Higher Education route into a career as a creative practitioner, or to launch yourself as a freelance artist or designer.
If that all sounds overwhelming, don't panic! City Lit is holding a free Visual Arts Open Day where you can learn more about some of the courses and start planning your future — and maybe even bag yourself a place right then and there.
Head to City Lit's Covent Garden HQ on Saturday 20 May to tour the facilities, including state-of-the-art studios, which you can make use of, if you choose a course here. Meet and chat to current students and specialist tutors to get the lowdown on all things City Lit, view work by some of the current students, and get free professional advice on your own work.
Throughout the day, there's a programme of talks and presentations, as well as a range of free creative workshops to help you pick the course that's right for you. And if you've made a choice then and there, there's a chance to interview for the course of your dreams, and possibly be offered a place on the spot, getting your new career path off to a flying start!
Ready to take the plunge into a new creative career? Head along to the Visual Arts Open Day to find out how City Lit can help you.
Visual Arts Open Day takes place at City Lit, 1-10 Keeley Street, WC2B 4BA on Saturday 20 May 2023, 10.30am-5.30pm. It's free to attend — register in advance on the City Lit website.
