Put Friday 1 March in your diary: it's the day that Greggs sausage rolls — vegan and meat — are handed out for free. That's basically like finding a quid on the floor. Then being made to spend it on a Greggs sausage roll.

The stunt comes courtesy of Deliveroo, celebrating its sixth birthday. At the end of last year, the London-founded food delivery company twinned up with Greggs, finally putting an end to the dearth of sausage & bean bake couriers in the capital.

Sausage rolls will be given away near the following branches of Greggs on Friday morning:

  • Holborn
  • The Strand
  • Cheapside
  • Southampton Row
  • Ludgate Hill
  • Paddington
  • Chancery Lane
  • East Cheapside
  • Whitechapel
  • Victoria Coach Station
  • Earls Court
  • Elephant and Castle
  • Clapham High Street
  • Shepherd's Bush.

6,000 sausage rolls might sound a lot, but given how many hungry commuters London has, they'll be gone in the time you can say "sorry, is this one meat or vegan?".
