If you enjoy the spicier things in life, an annual festival in Peckham is sure to you fired up.
On Saturday 9-Sunday 10 May 2026, the Hot Sauce Society Festival makes a sizzling comeback at Copeland Park. Over 40 independent hot sauce makers dish up their scorching elixirs, including the award-winning Big Ginger Sauce Co, Maame T's (we're told they do a great spicy shrimp sauce), Makan Malaysian and the Grenadian Scotch Rocket.
Though sauces can be tasted neat, you can also dig into spicy (and less piquant) eats from the likes of Oh My Dog and Chick N Sours. And you can quench that fire raging in your mouth with chilled beers from Gipsy Hill Brewery, frozen Cazcabel margs, and tubs of Nonna's Gelato. Phew.
Napalming your taste buds aside, the festival sees chilli face painting (going to assume that's not painting your face with actual hot sauce...), while Hop Burns and Black — local peddlers of beer, chilli sauce and vinyl — present Chilli Karaoke, where you're invited to sing your heart out while battling the heat of a scotch bonnet. Songs, we would hope, would include Hot in Herre, Heatwave... and absolutely anything by Red Hot Chili Peppers.
