Get A Taste Of The Dark Side At This All-Black Food Festival

A new food festival lands in London this weekend, and if gastronomic gimmicks leave a bad taste in your mouth, you should probably look away now. Unless you're a bit of a goth, or a 'grammer with a healthy appreciation for monochrome — in which case, cancel your Sunday plans because we've found your dream event.

Black Food Festival is exactly what it sounds like: a celebration of charcoal-coloured cuisine. Launched in Budapest in 2018, it has since visited Helsinki, New York, and Tel Aviv. And now it's coming Bethnal Green's Oval Space.

As well as naturally black offerings like coffee and caviar, the event vendors — which includes the 2 Lads Kitchen, La Mouche Bakes, and Sane Vegan Food — make use of ingredients like charcoal, squid ink, and black sesame to create their undeniably cool confections.

Expect midnight-hued macarons, pitch-black pasta and witchy wine, as well as gothic fashion, silhouette art, and even tarot readings for a little extra black magic. Check out the line-up here, or click here for tickets — entry costs £15 for a two-hour session.

Black Food Festival, 11am-7pm on Sunday 22 September at Oval Space (Bethnal Green). Click here for tickets.
