We're clucking with excitement for this one.

Chicken festival WingJam is back in south London this July. The rooftop festival celebrates the humble chicken wing by serving it up with a multitude of sauces from several vendors. Street food dishes and specially-made sauces are all on the menu, and you can mix and match as many different varieties as you can handle. Think BBQ, Buffalo, Jerk, Southern Fried, Habanero, and other mouthwatering melées.

Old favourites including Wing Shack are represented, along with The Bok Shop, Drums & Flats, and newcomer Harlem Soul (the restaurant opened in Old Street a couple of months ago). With names like Scorpion and Reaper, sauces from Brighton Hot Stuff are probably best left to those with well-trained palates.

Whiskey also features heavily in the day's proceedings, as Bulleit Whiskey hosts a pop-up bar — and supplies the bibs necessary for all that wing nibbling.

Hot wing contests take place throughout the festival, with visitors going head to head to see who can handle the most heat.

It's all set to a soundtrack of DJs and salsa bands, with views over London from the top of Peckham's Bussey Building. Freebies including whiskey cocktails, hot sauce and sriracha are handed out throughout the festival, and Goose Island craft beer is available to buy from the bar for when your mouth's in need of cooling.

WingJam takes place at Copeland Park and Bussey Building rooftop in Peckham (right opposite Peckham Rye station), 5-7 July 2019. Tickets are £13.50 and include entry to the festival, a goodie bag of Flying Goose Sriracha and Encona Hot Sauce, and a complimentary cocktail. Once you're inside, wings are £1 each.
