Netflix has just released a trailer for Grenfell Uncovered, recalling the tragic blaze of a Kensington residential high-rise in June 2017, which led to the deaths of 72, the injury of many more — and a national scandal. The feature length documentary delves into the lead-up to the fire (the cladding is described at one point as "like sticking a petrol tanker to the outside of a building"), the night of the blaze and how it spread at a terrifying pace, and the aftermath — which continues to be enveloped in blame dodging, confusion, misery and anger. Survivors of the fire are interviewed, as well as figures such as then-Prime Minister Theresa May, who was criticised at the time for not meeting survivors on her initial visit, and has since admitted her response was 'not good enough'.
Grenfell Uncovered is released on 20 June 2025, just over eight years after the tragedy unfolded.
