Did you know it's possible to hire parts of the iconic Southbank Centre for private events?
Situated on the banks of the Thames — a stone's throw from both Waterloo and Charing Cross stations — London's South Bank is perpetually aflutter with cultural happenings, replete as it is with venues that put on some of the glitziest shows on London's calendar.
And then there's the Queen Elizabeth Hall — a brutalist icon that's part of the Southbank Centre and is available to hire for award ceremonies, conferences, dinners, receptions and premieres.
Ever since it was opened by Queen Elizabeth II herself in 1967 — with a celebratory concert given by the legendary composer Benjamin Britten — the Queen Elizabeth Hall has been the Royal Festival Hall's rebellious and sculptural sibling.
As well as hosting public concerts and arts festivals, it's been used for everything from BAFTA awards shows to tech conventions — and it could also host YOUR event too.
The venue — which underwent a significant refurbishment and renovation between 2015 and 2018 to bring through its original aesthetic — consists of three striking areas available for private hire:
- The Queen Elizabeth Hall auditorium: Up to 916 guests can fit in this fixed seating space with world-class technical facilities. It's ideal for conferences, awards ceremonies and premieres — with an in-house production team available to personalise the space for you.
- The Queen Elizabeth Hall foyer: Roll out the red carpet for your guests, with this unforgettable V-shaped entrance, which can host standing receptions for 950, and sit-down dinners for 500. Networking drinks, dinners, fashion shows, brand launches — all and more are catered for here, with the added bonus of state-of-the-art lighting and sound.
- The Purcell Room: This smaller scale — but nonetheless stunningly modernist — auditorium has a capacity of 295. The more intimate atmosphere suits seminars, product launches and panel discussions. Or incorporate it as a breakout space alongside the main auditorium.
