It's the most wonderful time of the beer...
Fancy letting loose Bavarian style — you and your pals or work colleagues clad in lederhosen, while slurping from froth-topped steins, as you bop to the beats of an oompah band (and stand on the benches of a long Oktoberfest table)?
Since 2011, London Oktoberfest has been bringing the magic of Bavaria to London (they really know what they're doing) and this year it's taking place on select days across three weeks this October — bringing with it barrel-loads of bratwurst and beer!
The outrageously fun Bavarian-style blow-out first pops up in Finsbury Park, (9-11 October), before moving to St. Paul's Green in Hammersmith (16-18 October and 23-25 October). And we're so excited, we can barely keep our Tyrolean hats on....
What to expect? Seriously authentic German good times, including:
🎪 A giant tent (and when we say giant, we mean packed with 2,000 revellers!) festooned with the colours of the Bavarian state flag, and lengthy Oktoberfest-style tables — encouraging proper party spirit.
🎺 Live music, including Bavarian oompah, German Schlager (that's the catchy, singalong genre) and DJs that WILL get partygoers up on the benches and singing their hearts out. (A quiet night down your local pub this is not.)
🩳 Dirndl and lederhosen-sporting servers — plus attendees are encouraged to join in with the fun, and dress up themselves! If you don't have time to kit out beforehand, you can buy an outfit at the event. Flags, wigs and sunglasses are also on sale, for extra fun times.
🌭 Juicy bratwurst (the most iconic sausage in the world) and schnitzel (delicious deep-fried breaded pork cutlet) are served up throughout each session, fuelling you through this epic party.
🍺 Last but DEFINITELY not least — lashings of luscious fresh, frosty German beer (we're talking some 23,000 litres shipped over specially!) served in classic steins. And for those who don't fancy a beer, there's also cider, wine and soft drinks. Everyone's catered for here!
Dating back to 1810, as a royal wedding celebration for Crown Prince Ludwig and Princess Therese, Oktoberfest has become not only a major blowout in its native Bavaria, but a boisterous, boozy bacchanal in various countries across the globe.
Welcoming almost 2,000 people per session — and almost 15 years in the making — London Oktoberfest promises to be one heck of a memorable Oktoberfest event. Make sure you don't miss out — tickets are on sale now!
