A £2 pint of beer in the London of 2024. What, you may ask, is the catch?

Let's begin by saying, no, Wetherspoons doesn't come into the equation.

The seven pubs offering £2 pints on Thursday 8 August are Greenwood (Victoria), Northwood (Angel), Redwood (London Bridge), Goldwood (City), Beechwood (Shoreditch), Westwood (Shepherd's Bush) and Broadwood (City). The deal is to mark the rebranding of these seven pubs under the umbrella of the 'Sport London' brand.

There's no catch in the sense that no other purchase is necessary to claim your £2 pints, there's no limitation on how many pints you can buy (within the confines of drinking more than is visibly good for you), and the offer runs at all venues from opening to close.

What some drinkers may find to be one almighty catch is that there two choices of £2 beer: Heineken or Heineken 0%. So while some will be more than content with this, others will weigh things up and decide to stick with their £7.90 pint of craft NIPA thank you very much.

We will say this: each pub has a glut of TV screens showing the sport, so if you're mad keen on lager AND the Olympics, you should probably look into booking the day off work.
