The historic home of the BBC-turned-buzzing west London neighbourhood has had one heck of a festive makeover, featuring a 30ft walk-through Christmas tree, a cosy pop-up bar, and a galaxy of red and gold stars illuminating its famous facade. This sets the stage for a range of festive events taking place in the run-up to Christmas, including live music, spoken word, and performances by local school choirs.
Television Centre Live: The Winter Wrap Up takes over the venue's Winter Hideout on selected evenings throughout December. Head to Television Centre's forecourt and follow the stars into the stretch tent. Inside, you can enjoy spoken word (4 December), live music (11 December), and DJ sets (5, 12 and 19 December).
Many of these intimate performances feature local artists, which you can discover over a mulled wine or a winter cocktail — the bar's operated by local gastropub, The Broadcaster.
There's more to discover outside on the forecourt, too. From 12.30pm to 1pm on 5, 12 and 18 December, local schools will perform a selection of Christmas carols wrapped around Television Centre's tree, which this year is adorned with lights and stars. How's that for a spirit-lifting lunchtime diversion?
Of course, there's even more entertainment to be found inside Television Centre. And if you've got a spot in the audience of The Graham Norton Show or Loose Women (or other telly favourite that calls BBC Studioworks home), know that you're spoilt for choice when it comes to pre-show refreshments.
On top of running the Winter Hideout, The Broadcaster itself offers a range of festive menus, including including traditional seasonal fare such as roast turkey with all the trimmings, and Christmas pudding with brandy custard.
Looking for something to really warm your cockles? You can't go wrong with contemporary Indian eatery Kricket. We'll have the Keralan fried chicken, please. Or — if you're after an extra special dining experience and have time for 18 (!) courses — treat yourself to Endo at the Rotunda. Feast on their Michelin-starred omakase menu while enjoying panoramic London views from the 8th floor of the Television Centre.
