London boasts many a brilliant festive market, but this one's extra special — and not just because it takes place inside one of London's most beautiful historic buildings.
All funds raised from the Guildhall Christmas Market go to the British Red Cross, which supports people in crisis in the UK, and in 191 other countries around the world. So — come Tuesday 28 November — you can soak up the yuletide cheer knowing that you'll be supporting vital humanitarian work, while putting a serious dent in the Christmas shopping list!
You won't find just any old gifts at Guildhall Christmas Market, either. Amid the Grade I-listed Gothic splendour of the Guildhall's Great Hall, there's stall after stall of handcrafted, artisanal, one-of-a-kind treasures.
Shopping for a snappy dresser? Choose between fine silks, exquisite alpaca stoles, and premium quality leather goods. Love a bit of sparkle? Pick up Persian-inspired statement earrings or some stunning antique silverware. Want to put a smile on your favourite foodie's face? Opt for handmade Italian biscotti or a bottle of organic fruit liqueur. There are dozens of small businesses to discover, here — many local to London.
And there are plenty of opportunities to treat yourself, too! Admire the Guildhall's ornate arches and magnificent stained glass windows over a sweet treat, a spot of charcuterie, or a festive tipple.
If you really want to embrace the festive spirit, head to the atmospheric Guildhall crypts (the largest surviving medieval ones in London, don't you know?) for a two-course Christmas lunch or a champagne afternoon tea.
At Guildhall Christmas Market, you've also got the chance to get your hands on some rare prizes, via the festive raffle and silent auction. The details are under wraps at the time of writing, but tickets for each will be available to purchase on the day.
As for the market itself? Tickets cost just £7 and can be bought here. And if you really want to push the boat out, there's also an auspicious opening event (held on 27 November, the night before market day). This sparkling soiree will be attended by the Lord Mayor of London AND a member of the Royal Family. It's also a chance to get a sneak peek at this year's stalls while enjoying champagne and canapes. Tickets to the grand opening cost £60, with all proceeds going to the British Red Cross.
The Guildhall Christmas Market. The Grand Opening takes place 5pm-9.30pm on Monday 27 November — tickets cost £60. Market day is Tuesday 28 November, 10.30am-7pm, and entry cost £7.
