From the end of September 2025, the Tate Modern will open late on Fridays and Saturdays.

The Tate Modern will open late every Friday and Saturday from later this year.

Opened 25 years ago, the South Bank gallery — a former power station — is the most popular attraction of its kind in the world, bringing in almost five million visitors per year. The gallery already hosts Tate Modern Lates — monthly after-hours sessions allowing visitors to explore the exhibitions, and to enjoy special workshops and DJ sets. But from Friday 26 September 2025, the gallery will open late on Fridays and Saturdays every single week, with visitors able to wander around until 9pm — three hours after normal closing time.

Entry for the permanent collection will remain free for these late events, and the specially curated Tate Modern Lates, featuring bonus events, will continue to happen each month, running until 10pm.

Karin Hindsbo, Director of Tate Modern, said: "Over the last decade, Tate Modern Lates have become a cornerstone of London's nightlife. They have proven the huge demand for access to our galleries outside of regular hours, especially among young Londoners who want to make the most of their city's dynamic cultural scene.

"I'm delighted that Tate Modern will soon be open late every Friday and Saturday evening, making the world's most popular modern art museum even more accessible."
