A Mr Men Museum Is Coming To South Bank

Mr Bump was our favourite, thanks to the affinity our clumsy seven-year-old self had with the perma-bandaged character. Mr Tickle, however, was a scary creature, all gangly orange arms that looked like they'd reach out of the book and grab us.

If, like us, you grew up with Roger Hargreaves' Mr Men and Little Miss characters, your memories are needed for a new 'mini museum' on South Bank.

The colourful personalities celebrate their 45th anniversary this year with a temporary exhibition below at Gallery@OXO, on the ground floor of the OXO Tower, and the company behind them is asking the public to share their favourite Mr Men and Little Miss memorabilia via an online archive.

Items uploaded to the virtual archive will be on display on rolling screens at the exhibition, alongside physical items, which will be on loan from Mr Men Little Miss super fan Michelle Harrop.

Visitors can get better acquainted with the stories in the Mr Men Little Miss story time library area, and take photos inside a specially-created ‘Happyland’ backdrop alongside Mr Men and Little Miss characters — and even take home a personalised print of a Mr Men or Little Miss character as a memento.

While the exhibition is child-friendly, with exhibits displayed at a child's scale, we reckon this one will be as popular with big kids who grew up with the characters as it will with the new generation of fans.

Mr Men Little Miss Mini Museum takes place at Gallery@OXO, OXO Tower Wharf on 24-29 August (just in time for the final week of the summer holidays). Admission is free.
