Urban Axe Throwing Comes To London

The check shirts; the beards; the maple-syrup-on-bacon-and-waffles madness of it all: east London has long had a lumberjack vibe going on — and now the hipsters have axes.

At Whistle Punks in Whitechapel, the name of the game is to hurl axes at a wooden target in a more precise manner than your opponents. It's essentially darts, but with axes for darts and... well, that's about it.

We're assured that no former logging experience is required, and that axe throwing is more about skill, less about strength. But lest you fear you'll end up decapitating your boss and forfeiting this year's Christmas bonus, an axe-throwing expert will be on hand to make sure you get an (axe) handle on things.

We've got to be honest — we're axe-cited.

Whistle Punks, in Whitechapel opens on 19 May. One and a half-hour throwing experiences cost £25-£30 per person.
