Bid To Build Olympic Size Lido In South London
Design for the new Peckham Lido, by Studio Octopi

Campaigners trying to rebuild Peckham Lido are taking the plunge today — launching a £66,500 crowdfunding appeal.

Peckham lido was built in the 1920s heyday of al fresco swimming, but by 1987 fell into disrepair. All that's left of it now is a crumbling fountain at the northern tip of Peckham Rye.

A second incarnation of the 50m lido designed by Studiop Octopi features an outdoor cinema, gym, yoga studio and restaurant, and has already received the backing of Southwark Council and local MP Harriet Harman.

The initial target of £66,500 must be reached by 31 July. You can donate here.
