At the weekend, Cityread London launched its mission to get London reading one single book together. Volunteers and police cadets convened in Covent Garden to hand out free copies of Ben Aaronovitch's Rivers of London so we sent Vicki Pipe along to investigate.

As part of the April programme, Aaronovitch is also on a month long library tour with a reading in each of the 32 boroughs of London, which means he'll be appearing somewhere local to you at some point soon.

You can participate in Rivers of London — A Hidden Chapter with theatre company Look Left Look Right having created an immersive experience at Westminster Reference Library, so you can go along and see if you have the magical skills required to join the Met Police Supernatural Sciences branch, which features in the mystery novel.
