National Gallery: Summer Lates, Free Art, Italy Holiday

This is a sponsored article on behalf of the National Gallery.

If you didn’t already know that the National Gallery stays open late on Fridays throughout summer, then you’ve been missing out.

The beautiful art house overlooking Trafalgar Square keeps its doors open until 9pm every Friday night until late September, allowing visitors to explore the exhibitions and paintings after-hours. The art-hungry can also grab a bite to eat, enjoy guided taster tours, attend special workshops, listen to live music and relax in the museum bar.

It’s free to enter and enjoy (although certain events may charge) and is a fantastic option for anyone who is stuck in the office during the day or who wants to enjoy the world-renowned collections with a glass of wine in hand.

This summer the National Gallery also has an extra treat in store, as to celebrate the Summer Lates and the current Making Colour exhibition, visitors to any of their lates are eligible to enter a competition in partnership with Tuscany Now to win a one-week holiday for two at the sunny ‘Limonaia’ (‘The Lemon House’), overlooking the beautiful city of Florence.

The prize includes accommodation at the villa, which is perched on a hillside and has views overlooking the River Amo, Florence, olive groves, the garden and a shared swimming pool. Return flights from London Gatwick to Pisa are also included.

More information can be found here. All you have to do to enter is submit your details via the prize draw box at the museum (there’s also an online competition page for those of you who can’t make it there in person). Buona fortuna!

The National Gallery Summer Lates take place every Friday at the National Gallery, Trafalgar Square, London, WC2N 5DN, until 26 September 2014. Entry is free although some special events may charge.
