Barking Mad Fun In Battersea Park

Battersea

If you head down to Battersea Park next Sunday, you're in for a barrage of canine madness. It's the annual Battersea Dogs Home Reunion — when kind souls who have rehomed one of the centre's former inhabitants are invited to bring their dogs along for a fun day out.

The free event is open to everyone, animal owner or not, but being a dog lover is a prerequisite, as there's a strong canine theme to the day. Dog classes and agility displays will be going on, with the public invited to put their pets forward at a cost of £2 a pop. Prizes up for grabs include Handsomest Dog, Prettiest Lady (which we're assuming refers to female dogs, rather than their owners) and Best Trick.

There are also plenty of stalls with dog-centric activities for adults and children, food and drink, and a playground and paddling pool especially for dogs.

Over the years, Battersea has rallied several celebrity supporters, some of whom will be involved in judging at the event. Names released so far include fashion designer Julien McDonald, actor Jules Knight, and author Dame Jacqueline Wilson. No word yet on whether Paul O' Grady and his ever-expanding pack of pooches will be in attendance, but For The Love Of Dogs is back on our TV screens next week.

All money raised on the day will go towards caring for the animals at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home.

Battersea Annual Renunion takes place on 7 September, 11am-4.30pm in Battersea Park. Entry is free.
