Gin O'Clock At Charles Dickens Museum

The Charles Dickens Museum

If a combination of literature and gin is your book (pun slightly intended), you'll want to hop down to The Charles Dickens Museum in Bloomsbury on Friday night for The Gin Library.

The blue plaque bedecked terrace just off Gray's Inn Road opens its Victorian kitchens to the public for an evening of Dickensian style gin tasting. Experts from The London Gin Club will be on hand to offer tips on how to sample and serve gin, and will share their knowledge about gin past and present. They'll also be picking some of their favourites from a library of hand-picked gins for you to sample.

There's also a chance to mingle in the present day gin bar, complete with carefully matched garnishes and tonics. Those leaning towards the history of the house can step outside into the candlelit walled garden and enjoy the live acoustic music, or learn the art of traditional Japanese stab binding (for books not people - we think).

The Gin Library is at Charles Dickens Museum on 1 August, from 6.30pm. Tickets, £22, must be prebooked.
