London Foodies Win Samsung 'Launching People' Project

Did you catch The Ones To Watch on Sky 1?

In February this year, Samsung joined forces with chef Gizzi Erskine, award-winning actor Idris Elba, singer-songwriter Paloma Faith and fashion photographer Rankin to find people with big ideas and extraordinary potential and help bring their ideas to life through the Launching People project.

The winners of the food category were London-based foodies Tim Talbot and Andy Taylor, who together form Le Bun. Their ambition? To revolutionise the way people perceive French food.

Gone is the panic of which fork to use and how on earth to get that snail out of its shell. Instead, their creative submission involves bringing classic French food to the everyday eater in the relaxed atmosphere of an American diner on board a double decker bus.

Tim and Andy spent two weeks working with their mentor, Gizzi Erskine, and the journey was captured in the Sky 1 television series. You can catch the final episode again tonight, 13 June, at 8pm on Sky 2 (it’s also available on catch up).

If the episode whets your appetite then make sure to catch Le Bun in action at Dalston’s Street Feast. They’re there today, tomorrow (13 and 14 June) and for the next couple of weekends and will be serving their signature dish, Le Bourgignon Bun and a new creation, Le Bisque Mac - that’s shellfish macaroni with grilled cheese sandwich croutes - le yum.
