Fancy learning the ukulele? Arabic, philosophy, chess or about black holes? How about biscuit decorating or creative writing? What ever you’d like to try, City Lit has a course for you this summer.

City Lit are offering over 1,000 short courses this summer in a massive range of subjects such as astronomy, sewing, London walks, swing dance, technology, local history and more.

For those of you thinking you couldn’t possibly have time to fit anything in, think again. City Lit courses run in the daytime, the evening, weekdays and weekends to fit around your busy lifestyle. Pick a one-day course or workshop, a two-hour talk or walk, an afternoon's introduction to a subject or a four-week slice of study. The purpose-built centre is conveniently based in Covent Garden but many courses take place out and about, on London's streets and in its galleries and museums.

So, take the opportunity to twist your tongue around that language you’ve always wanted to speak, get hands on and make something, develop a new skill or find out more about that area of history that’s always intrigued you. There are also lots of lovely London-themed courses covering art, film, history, music, parks, walks and theatres for those who like to geek out about the capital as much as we do.

Prices vary from course to course, but the good news is that government funding means many of the options are at half the price they would be otherwise. Experience in your chosen field isn’t necessary. All you need is a spark of interest and willingness to learn.

With so many options there's sure to be something that piques your interest. Take a look at what’s on offer, make the most of your spare time and do something different this summer.

Stay tuned over the next three weeks for more information on City Lit's summer courses, including further details on their superb London-y offerings.
