UK's First Edible Book Launch Comes To Shoreditch

A previous Edible Stories event.

Book launches tend to stick to a generic formula: reading, book signing, wine and nibbles. Unless, of course, you're in Shoreditch.

Debut novelist Sarah Holt releases her new book, Love and Eskimo Snow, with the UK's first edible book launch, in May. Like us, you probably have visions of a book made out of rice paper that dissolves on your tongue no sooner than the last chapter is complete.

The event actually consists of a six-course meal, designed by the clever people at Edible Stories to convey Love and Eskimo Snow through taste, texture, scent, sight and sound, accompanied by cocktails. The promise of 'food that you have to interact with to find out more about the book’s characters' certainly intrigues.

The book itself centres around the myth that eskimos have thousands of different words for snow, and questions whether love should be the same.

Tickets for the event are £57.50 for which you get a six-course meal in the somewhat unusual setting of the Box Park mall — plus an insight into the big twist of the novel, somewhere around the fifth course.

We never really liked rice paper anyway.

Edible Stories at Box Park Shoreditch, 25 May, 7.30pm. Tickets £57.50. The event is sponsored by web hosting company UK2.
