Help To #CreateChristmas In Victoria

Cardinal Place web version

Christmas images, a festive photography competition, live performances and a Christmas market — #CreateChristmas is on hand to get you into the festive spirit.

What?

London can be a pretty special place to be at Christmas. With seasonal markets, theatre shows, ice rinks, window displays and festive lights aplenty, it provides plenty of good photo opportunities too.

This November, Londoners have the opportunity to submit their festive photographs for a chance to be featured in the #CreateChristmas exhibition, which will take over the facade of Victoria’s Cardinal Place. If your snap conveys the magic of Christmas in the capital then it could be projected onto the 10 storey building (that’s the equivalent of seven double decker buses, just so you know) alongside a host of others between 21-23 November.

If your picture really impresses the judge - photographer Rob Grieg - then you might be picked as the winner and receive £500 worth of photography equipment, plus have your photo printed in the spring edition of the Create Victoria newspaper.

Why?

It’s for a good cause, too. For each photo that makes it into the final exhibition, Create Victoria will donate £1 to The Prince’s Trust as part of its Christmas appeal. The youth charity helps disadvantaged young people across the UK to turn their lives around and find a job.

Who?

Thursday 21 November sees the opening of the #CreateChristmas exhibition and with something of this size, it’s only right and proper that some special guests should pop along too.

Kicking off three nights of entertainment is girl band MKS, made up of the founding Sugababes members. They will perform songs from their new album, plus a couple of old favourites, before switching on Victoria’s Christmas lights all the way from the station to Buckingham Gate. The MOBO award-nominated IDMC London Gospel Choir will also take to stage, as well as a performance from the London Ballet Company.

Stage performances from children’s hits The Gruffalo and The Snail & The Whale, a Christmas food market, West End, violin and opera performances complete the three-day entertainment line-up. See the full listings here.

Where?

Enjoy the #CreateChristmas photography exhibition (and possibly your own picture!) on the facade of Cardinal Place in Victoria, 21-23 November.

Pop up to Cardinal Place’s Roof Garden to enjoy the entertainment each night between 21-23 November from 5.30pm.

If you’re after the Christmas light switch-on, then station yourself on Victoria Street (between the station and Buckingham Gate) from 5.30pm on 21 November with a warming hot chocolate.

What else?

For a chance to be featured in the exhibition, you can submit a photo via Facebook.com/CreateVictoria with a caption of how it captures the essence of creating Christmas in London. Whether it is a favourite landmark, a must-do seasonal shop or iconic festive fare, #CreateChristmas wants to know what Christmas in London really means to people.

All events are free, but spaces on the Roof Garden are limited and on a first come first served basis. For more details and full listings/timings, visit the Create Victoria website.
