Fancy yourself the next Alice Temperley or Christopher Kane? If you're 16-18 and thinking about a career in clothes, the Fashion and Textile Museum is running some free two-day courses in August that might interest you.

  • Fashion Career: no names are given, but people described as "industry experts and insiders" will give an introduction to the types of careers available in fashion and what to do to get a foothold 1-2 August
  • Fashion Photoshop: learn how to use the software to design a fashion collection 22-23 August.
  • Fashion Collection: design a capsule collection to a brief, including researching and creating a moodboard 27-28 August.
  • Fashion Trends: using WGSN to forecast future trends 29-30 August.

There are some conditions attached to the freeness: you have to be 16, 17 or 18 on 31 August 2013, have lived in the UK or EU for at least three years, and you only get one course free (the free course has to be the first one of the academic year, otherwise it's £50). You also have to commit to both days and pay a refundable deposit of £10 (plus a £1 non-refundable booking fee). We reckon these will be popular, so bag your place now.
