Exhibition Preview: The Raging Storm @ Gallery@Oxo

If you’re wandering along the South Bank over the next couple of weeks, and you happen to be caught in a rainshower (it’s possible, right?!), you might want to duck into the latest free exhibition at the Oxo Gallery.

The Raging Storm is an exhibition of fine art prints taken from original artwork of album covers for rock'n'roll bands such as Muse or Pink Floyd.

Associated with Pink Floyd since 1968, legendary graphic designer Storm Thorgerson, along with his colleagues Hipgnosis and (more recently) StormStudios, has provided most of Pink Floyd's album cover art. This exhibition also includes pieces that StormStudios have completed for other artists, including Muse (with friend of Londonist, Ward, as “the bloke” in the picture). Bands often choose StormStudios because of their painstaking approach to the works, and their ability to create big and bold, unforgettable images infiltrated with a humorous or cryptic nod to their clients and fans.

The Raging Storm is at gallery@oxo, Oxo Tower Wharf Bargehouse Street London SE1 9PH until 29 July. Entrance is free. Visit coinstreet.org or follow @oxotowerwharf for more information.
