Nine groundbreaking writers from Austria, Denmark, Germany, Hungary, Montenegro, Poland, Romania and Sweden have been selected to read and speak about their work at the fourth European Literature Night (ELN) in London.

Simultaneously, multiple editions of ELN will be taking place in capital cities across the continent.

Journalist and BBC presenter Rosie Goldsmith chairs the London evening with a line-up that includes both emerging young writers and established European literary figures. Expect insights into crime writing, literary explorations of love, historical novels, horror, short story mazes and concise contemporary verse. Quite simply, you'll experience the cream of European literature in translation.

After the main event there's a chance to get books signed and mingle with the literati.

European Literature Night takes place at the British Library Conference Centre on Wednesday 16 May from 6.30-8.30pm. Tickets are £7.50, concessions £5.
