To celebrate the launch of their dedicated Campus site, BlablaCar have set university clubs a challenge to prove themselves the best at promoting carpooling and win £3,000.
BlablaCar is a social networking carpooling service linking drivers with empty car seats with people looking for a lift. It's simple. Drivers rent out their seats at a fixed price per passenger, sharing the costs of driving and reducing their carbon footprint. Passengers get the lift they need, generally at a rate comparable to the interminable coach with the potential to have a lot more fun on the road.
It sounds like a great idea for students and wise to this, over 100 UK universities and colleges already have their own page on BlablaCar linking up students travelling to and from uni and further afield.
So, London students, all you have to do is make your university the most active user of BlablaCar, spreading the word about the benefits of the scheme - save money whilst reducing your carbon footprint and traffic - as well as making the most of your social networks to promote the concept to your peers. At the end of the challenge, the top ranked university on BlablaCar will win £2,000 for their champion club and there's also a £1,000 prize for the most creative idea used across your social media sites to persuade your fellow students to sign up and carpool.
Whether it's a lift home for Christmas, a ride to the football this weekend or a road trip to Paris, BlablaCar can connect you with like-minded people ready to roll.
To enter your club, simply email email@example.com and request a Competition Pack which provides information on how to win and ideas and materials for ways to promote the competition to others . The winning club will be chosen at the end of January 2012.
