Feeding The 5,000 In Trafalgar Square

A huge feast will take place at Trafalgar Square on Friday, with 5,000 (give or take) hungry souls being served free meals made from food that would otherwise have gone to waste.

Started by Tristram Stuart in 2009, and supported by FareShare, Love Food Hate Waste, FoodCycle and Friends of the Earth, the aim of the annual free lunch is to highlight the extraordinary amount of food that goes to waste every day across the country. This year Mr. Hunt will be joined by Boris Johnson, who'll dole out the first bowl and mug for the cameras in what should be a nice spot of political theatre, and various chefs including Wahaca founder Thomasina Myers, Valentine Warner and Arthur Potts Dawson, who'll offer some cooking demonstrations.

The chow-down will run from 12pm - 2pm on Friday, 18th November.
