Thanks to a new sponsorship deal with KPMG, the Thames Clipper fleet's getting a new look and expanding their routes ready for the record number of passengers expected in Olympic year.
The winter commuter timetable begins on 3rd October and includes the following improvements:
- Routes extend west with the new St George Wharf pier at Vauxhall served by an extension of Tate to Tate
- One service an hour will call at Blackfriars on weekdays, during the daytime
- There's a new 08.44 sailing from Greenland Dock to town
- The peak time London Bridge to Canary Wharf commuter shuttle is reintroduced
It's also hinted that the new sponsorshop deal might see a further westbound service extension as far as Putney in future.
Late night services remain unchanged, however. And that means they're still sparse.
A new Twitter account @thamesclippers will alert users to service delays and problems, the old email notification system having been abandoned. There's also a free iPhone app for that.
