Given the relative lack of calm in London over the last year with this summer's riots and protests aplenty, it's unsurprising that the Metropolitan police have taken a cautious approach when it comes to visitors to the Houses of Parliament.
A recent request made under the Freedom Of Information Act generated a highly illuminating response. According to the Met, their officers have confiscated no less than 667 items over the first 6 months of this year.
Items include:
- 17 footballs
- 14 scooters
- 11 cans of shaving foam
- 9 harmonicas
- 5 children's police helmets
- 4 sets of handcuffs
- 2 nail clippers
- 1 magic wand
