If you’re yet to enjoy the wonders of Wilton's Music Hall, the London Comedy Film Festival's Transformations series is a great excuse to get down there.
Between 8 and 12 August, the gorgeous grand old space in Tower Hamlets is hosting a series of classic films alongside live acts (jugglers, magicians, contortionists and the like) plus a DJ for dancing until closing time (11pm).
The Transformations week is part of Wilton's Music Hall's Anthropomorphic Summer, and they're showing some of brilliant body-swap comedies: Big, All Of Me, Tootsie, Being John Malkovich and everyone's favourite boy-becomes-beast fable: Teen Wolf.
The evenings are compered by Madame Galina, a prima ballerina with a difference. Special guest performers before the films include contortionist Rubber Ritchie, ventriloquist Nina Conti and Audacity Chutzpah, the clown-queen of burlesque.
So for just £15, you get a bit of new-school Variety, a cheesy old-school flick, and a chance to dance at the end. Sounds like a perfect night out to us!
The Transformations Festival takes place from 8-12 August at Wilton's Music Hall, 1 Graces Alley, Cable Street, E1 8JB. Tickets cost £15, which includes a £3 donation to Wilton's Restoration Fund. Visit www.locofilmfestival.com for full details.
