Music Choice: 11-17 July

Go to a gig this week

Tuesday, Japanese Voyeurs play Hoxton Bar and Kitchen in honour of the release of their latest album, Yolk. Indie poppers Avi Buffalo are at Scala.

The Black Crowes have two shows at the Shepherds Bush Empire, on Tuesday and Wednesday. They'll be playing two sets each night, one acoustic and one electric. Be sure to get there early so you don't miss a note.

At opposite ends of the spectrum on Wednesday, twee outfit Allo Darlin' are at XOYO and hard rockers Primus are at Brixton Academy.

Thursday, indie rockers the Wolfmen release their album, Married to the Eiffel Tower at the 100 Club. Synth pop duo Hurts are at Somerset House, but be sure to get there early for all-female, avant garde choir Gaggle.

Friday, reminisce about a time before Brooklyn and geek were cool with They Might Be Giants at Koko.

The Tom Tom Club — Tina Weymouth and Chris Frantz from Talking Heads — are celebrating 30 years together with a residency at the Jazz Café. Celebrate with them on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

If you crave a little time outdoors this weekend, Lovebox returns to Victoria Park with Snoop Dogg headlining Saturday and Scissor Sisters headlining on Sunday. Things kick off on Friday with the Wombats leading the show.

Finally, on Sunday, continue to take in the city air with alt-country heroes My Morning Jacket at Somerset House.
