Friends, Romans, costume-wearers, lend me your eyes.
We come to praise this (rather stylish) toga party, not to bury it.
The Button Club held its third Imperial Ball last week at Beauberry House. This was our first time at a Button Club event and we were quietly impressed with what we saw. Practically every guest made an effort to dress up as a Roman centurion, gladiator, slave, senator or lady.
A feast which was both complimentary and complementary was laid out which included a pig on a spit roast, salmon, roast chicken plus nuts, fresh and dried fruit. The pièce de résistance was a Coliseum made entirely out of fluorescent macaroons.
We rubbed shoulders with a Czech fashion model (and the face of the Prague Beer Museum) Lenka Josefiová as she sauntered around as Cleopatra while other guests included celebrity hairdresser Stuart Phillips and Playboy model Shira Jones (we'll let you google her later). The VIP Goddesses (who will be appearing on a reality show later this year) provided entertainment with their living statues and, later, fire-dancing.
