Music Choice: 17-23 January

It's been slow going for gig going so far in the new year, but things are coming back to life. Here are our picks for the week, but please share any shows you've got lined up for yourselves that we may have missed.

Tuesday, 80s goth rockers the Cult will be at the Hammersmith Apollo with kindred spirits and scene survivors Masters of Reality. On the mellower side of things, downtempo, acoustic collective My Jerusalem is at the Borderline.

Wednesday, for you fans of Krautrock and grime, enigmatic Finnish trio K-X-P are at Lexington. For intensity of a different stripe, alt-country duo Wye Oak is at Water Rats.

Thursday, the least ironic pop band in Brooklyn, Wakey!Wakey! is making their London debut at the Garage.

Neo-industrial band Innerpartysystem have a sold out show at Madame Jojo's on Thursday. If you don't already have your ticket, you have another chance to catch them Friday at Corsica Studios.

On Saturday, the Manic Street Preachers are playing Brixton Academy, rescheduled from October. Joining the Manics, just in time to celebrate the release of their latest Valhalla Dancehall, are British Sea Power.
