Rivington Grill Shoreditch and Rivington Grill Greenwich have launched a new takeaway service. Ever on the hoof, Londonist was pleased to give the Shoreditch offer a taste when contacted by the restaurant. We went for a burger and chips, which at £9.75 wasn't the cheapest to-go option in the area but one of the more satisfying lunches we've enjoyed in quite some time. Beefy and generously garnished with a decent sized portion of chunky chips and some great, mildly tangy ketchup, it hit the spot. Packaged to survive a bit of urban trekking, we were impressed to find our lunch still warm after a 15 minute meander to our chosen chow down destination. However, the enticing wafts coming up from our bag o' burger during our walk was just about to kill us.

Other gourmet takeaway dishes include fish and chips with mushy peas (£9.75). But don't expect cod; Chef Simon Wadham says he hasn't included it - or tuna - on a menu for years. While waiting for our takeout order and enjoying some exceptional Rivington lunchtime people watching, Simon kept us company and seemed keen for a follow up interview to expound upon his kitchen ethics and experiences.

Rivington Grill is located at 28-30 Rivington Street, EC2A 3DZ and 178 Greenwich High Road, SE10 8NN. Visit the two locations online respectively at www.rivingtonshoreditch.co.uk and www.rivingtongreenwich.co.uk.
