Whilst 'actual psychic' Joe Power was getting booed on one side of the Edinburgh Festival this summer, "spirit medium" Ian D Montfort was causing mirth and amazement and reaping 4 and 5 star reviews with his show "Touching the Dead". In London for 2 nights only, the Sunderland Psychic comic creation of Tom Binns will be "updating mentalism for the 21st century" at the Canal Cafe.
Wishing to do for mind reading what "Les Dawson did for the piano" Binns uses the showmanship and techniques of working psychics to spoof and debunk them whilst veering perilously close to convincing the audience he does, in fact, have 'the gift'.
Specialising in channelling dead celebrities, hope for appearances from such lost luminaries as Tony Hart, Norris McWhirter, Jeremy Beadle and William Shakespeare.
Tom Binns presents Ian D Montfort "Touching the Dead" at the Canal Cafe Theatre, Delamere Terrace, Little Venice W2 6ND. Thursday 21 and Friday 22 October at 7.30pm, £7.
NB The Canal Cafe is participating in Woolly Hat Day for St Mungo's on Friday.
