Soak up the last of the summer sunshine on Wednesday with the Portman Village street party on Seymour Place and New Quebec Street. This little cluster of hipstertastic shops and restaurants is spilling out onto the pavements in a blaze of free food and drink, shopping discounts and entertainment - here are just a few highlights.
Absolutely do not miss the Designer Jumble Sale, with all proceeds going to Pakistan Flood Relief and the local community. Items from Vivienne Westwood, Prada, Galliano and others are on sale dirt cheap from the Church of Annunciation, and from 7pm there's an auction of star items, raffle and a party (entry tickets cost £10, raffle tickets a fiver).
Nibble cured meat and sip Prosecco at Vinoteca, oysters for £1 at Seaport, sample tasters of Japanese food at Mura and wines at Philglas and Swiggot or get a health kick from Poco Ma Bono's smoothies and juices. Gastropub The Portman (Mason's Arms, as was) opens for a preview with more oysters, champagne, chilled red wine and live music.
There's entertainment on the street, too: acoustic performances and comedy shows will take place throughout the afternoon, or visit a tarot reader and henna painter to the sound of Djembe bongos. (We suspect your enjoyment of this will largely depend on your feelings towards bongos.) Experts - including designer Osman Yousefzada - will be on hand to offer tips on hair and beauty, fashion and food, plus there's lots of workshops to try your hand at. We recommend visiting the nice people at Homemade London.
