Hire Bike Users Being Overcharged

TfL has confessed to what anecdotal evidence has long pointed to: namely, that thousands of people have been wrongly overcharged whilst riding Cycle Hire bikes. The exact figure remains a mystery: a spokesperson said that "a couple of thousand" of the 40,000 members have been affected, which (even if taken at the low end) represents a significant chunk of current users — they'll want to get it sorted before the scheme is extended to non-members. Most of the inaccurate charges were under £10, and TfL claim that they are taking steps to ensure who has had rogue sums added to their bill is properly compensated.
