Book Grocer: 25-31 August

BookGrocer1.jpg The week ahead in literary London. Everyone's back from holiday next week, honest.

Wednesday: It's time to do your Homework again at Bethnal Green Working Men's Club. Tim Clare, Joe Dunthorne, Chris Hicks, John Osborne, Ross Sutherland and Luke Wright will be demonstrating how to write badly, well (7.30pm, £5).

Bring your memories, stories and imagination - and your children - to create a map of words at the British Library (11am and 2.30pm, free).

19th century London radical Dan Chatterton is remembered and discussed tonight at Housmans (7pm).

Thursday: There's still family word mapping at the British Library (11am and 2.30pm, free).

Friday: Dean Atta and Deanna Rodger present Come Rhyme With Me at Rum Jungle (Cottons Caribbean Restaurant in Islington). If Indigo Williams, Polarbear, James Massiah and Kadija Kamara whet your appetite, there's also an open mic session (6.30pm, £5 / £10 with dinner).

Monday: Jason Why hosts Poets Communion at the Arts Bar, Camberwell, with featured performer Alan English (7pm, free).

Tuesday: The Poetry Cafe dusts itself off after the summer break with Poetry Unplugged. Niall O'Sullivan hosts the open mic night (7.30pm, £4 / £3).
