Bringing street food to an upscale(ish) takeaway counter at Liverpool Street, NOW offers quick and easy (and rather inexpensive) food “inspired by the food stalls and street stands of Southern China”. Londonist commuted over for a sample of their fare and were pleased with what we tried. Vegetable and black bean rice pot (£3.89), classic dim sum basket (£3.99) and salmon and noodle salad (£4.69) all seemed generously portioned and well priced. A side dish of seafood sticky rice (two for £.2.99) was delish!
A strawberry vanilla bubble ice tea (£1.49) was a refreshing treat to accompany our lunch. However we do know where to find better and ... one minor complaint: the tapioca “bubbles” were too big for our straw! No worries though; we simply used a spoon.
NOW's been doing the soft launch thingy for the past several days, but that doesn't seem to be keeping the queues from winding out the door. The place was pumping with City workers when we visited around 1pm today. Tomorrow's the official launch. Prices are right, they appear to have the queue management under control and the food's pretty tasty. We're hoping to return sometime on the soon side for a go at NOW's pork bun (£2.29)
NOW is located at 22/23 Liverpool Street. Visit 'em online at www.nowstreetfood.com.
