Crafty London: What's On

Cocoabox.jpg If you fancy getting crafty in London this weekend, there's plenty on offer, especially if you've got a sweet tooth.

How about cupcake decorating with the Cocoa Box in Hampstead? Instead of heading to the pub on Sunday evening, join Lisa and her team for their 6:30pm class. They'll show you tricks with fondant paste and glitter, and demonstrate how to pipe swirly buttercream on to freshly baked cupcakes in their very convivial and relaxed Cupcakes and Cocktails class. Londonist popped along last week. It was interesting to see that that there were as many guys as girls showing off their confectionery skills, which don't necessarily improve with drinking but it's almost certainly more fun that way.

If you'd prefer to be a patron of the arts, and score an excellent breakfast into the bargain, venture through industrial wastelands to the Hackney Wick Flea Market and the Stour Space artists' space in Hackney Wick on Saturday, for the monthly Designer Makers' fair. A wide range of vendors sell original works, starting from 50p upwards. Then it's a few doors along to the Counter Café for their French toast and excellent coffee. They're worth the trip alone.
