2012 may present the UK with its "greatest security challenge" since WWII so we must to be prepared. Level 2 BTec diploma courses in crowd control and safety through 50 colleges are set to equip teenagers to join the ranks of the Olympic security detail. Given our experience, come 2012 this could make for a whole fleet of Student Union style 'bouncers' barely out of their teens but high on an authority kick, standing nonchalantly arms crossed at venue entrances, nodding mates through for free and filching watery lager from the bar. Fear not our lazy student stereotypes though, this youth initiative is only one part of serious security plans taking shape.
