Tomorrow is the third Thursday in November, and we all know what that means
Don’t we? Don’t worry, the hip but welcoming Bar Kick is on hand to bring out the sophisticate in us all. The Shoreditch venue is pushing away the table footballs to celebrate 'Beaujolais Day’: at the stroke of midnight, every year, on the third Thursday of the month, a million cases of the French wine, Le Beaujolais Nouveau, make their way to countries across the world. French law dictates that this light, fruity red can’t be sold even a minute before.
Lucky Londoners can sample this year’s batch at Bar Kick, where dishes from the Beaujolais-Burgundy region will also be served, from coq au vin to tartiflette. Resident songstress, Madame Chanteuse d’Enfer, will help all the food and wine go down to the sound of piano, accordion and Gallic singsong. The fun starts at 6pm, so be quick: this two-month-old wine doesn’t hang around long!
